THE BALLOT MEASURE IS AN INITIATIVE WHICH CONSISTS OF 14 SIMPLE WORDS:

"All legislative actions on revenue and budget must be determined by a majority vote."

It strikes out the hyphenated word "two-thirds" and replaces it with "majority" in two places in the California State Constitution. The first instance deals with budget and the second with revenue. For the legislative text of the initiative click here

---1.3 million voter signatures

Thousands of volunteers will collect signatures by convincing voters that California Democracy Act is what is needed to save the California we love.
How to become a petition circulator

We need volunteers for other tasks as well, such as speaking to organizations, data entry, office work, fundraising, media outreach, web site maintenance, publicity, graphic design, event planning, scheduling, phone banking and coordinating the operation. Please fill out a volunteer form to get into the campaign database. That will help us to be more organized in each county and city. You can get this form at the

If you are a student, you can also join the California Democracy Act Coalition. It is completely managed and run by high school, college, university, private school and graduate students. You will receive the opportunity to become a leader in your own school or college community as well as to help the Student Leadership Statewide Team.
